Old Georgians HC are delighted to announce the signing of James Carson ahead of the 2020/21 season. James joins us from Belgium league side Royal Beerschot HC.
James has a wealth of experience in the National League playing for the likes of Reading HC and Exeter University. A player known for his deadly finishing, he then moved to Belgium to compete in the top division with Royal Beerschot HC. Having worked their way to the Belgian playoff series, they reached the national final and secured their spot in the 2019 EHL for the first time. James was part of the team to reach the KO16 in Barcelona and battled it out against Rot-Weiss Köln, narrowly loosing 3-1.

On the international stage, James has an incredible record. Having racked up 69 appearances for Wales he has already scored 33 goals for his country. After a stunning 2017, Wales rose to 24th in the world to ensure they qualified for the 20-team tournament at the Commonwealth Games 2018. Following on from his appearance at the CWG, he then represented Wales at European Championships 2019 in Belgium.

Away from the pitch, James is a qualified teacher in PE and will be working at St George's Junior School. He will also be joining the club as a Junior Dragons Coach, looking to inspire the next generation of hockey players. Commenting on his signing he said "it's a great club that has come such a long way. I'm looking forward to doing all that I can both on and off the pitch to help Old Georgians achieve their ambitions" James joins his older brother Tom in the forward line and is hoping to form a formidable partnership over the coming season. We look forward to seeing James down at the club.
Welcome James!
